Hirosaki Castle in Aomori Prefecture, seat of the Tsugaru family, has a keep dating from the Edo period and is famous for its cherry blossoms.
History
The Tsugaru family built the castle in the early Edo period. The original keep was lost to lightning, and in the early 19th century a turret was rebuilt as the keep, which survives today. In recent years the keep was moved for repairs to the stone walls.
